Landscape across the Southern African hunting concessions operated by Nhoro Safaris

Three countries, three very different hunts

Three countries, each doing one thing properly. In all three, camp sits on the hunting ground itself — there is no drive out to a concession each morning.

Choosing between them

The honest short version: South Africa for a first safari, the widest species list and an accessible first buffalo. Zimbabwe for free-range elephant. Mozambique for the best buffalo hunting in Southern Africa.

Country Best for Season Length Demand
South Africa Widest plains game list, buffalo at an accessible price, bow Mar – Oct 5 – 10 days Moderate
Zimbabwe Free-range elephant, plus lion, leopard, crocodile and hippo Mar – Jul 7 – 14 days High
Mozambique Premium Zambezi Delta buffalo, exceptional waterbuck Late Jul – early Sep 7 – 10 days Very high

Combining two countries in one trip

A significant number of our clients hunt two countries on a single trip, and it is usually the right call. Five to seven days of plains game on the Limpopo property, then across to Zimbabwe for elephant or to the Zambezi Delta for buffalo. The South African leg fills out your species list at a much lower cost per animal; the second leg is the hunt you came for.

Logistics are simpler than most people expect — regional flights connect Johannesburg with Harare and Beira, and we handle the firearm paperwork for both countries. Both combinations are set out on our packages page.

One planning note: the Zambezi Delta season is fixed at late July to early September, so a Limpopo-plus-Delta trip has to be built around that window. Zimbabwe elephant runs March to July, with a September option if needed.
